First, this is a great show!! I've had it for a while and quite enjoy it. You'll enjoy all you find here. Check out the Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett acoustic shows here on the archive. They are outstanding as well. There is a "house party" soundboard from 4/19/03 that is particularly nice.

Hmmm, a couple of possibilities regarding your issues. One potential simple issue might be that you haven't fully downloaded the song without realizing it. For example, if I go to the little feat show in question and right click the first song and "download" to my desktop, it starts saving to my desktop. My desktop shows a "file" there and when I try to open it, it won't play. But the problem is that there really isn't a full file there yet. On my system (which is a very fast broadband, with download speeds often exceeding 800kB on the archive), it took me 8 minutes for the first song to fully download. I use Firefox, and can use tools, download to see the progress of the file as it is downloading. In this case, it was downloading at about 141kb. Again, 8 minutes! Once I waited for the song to fully download, then opened it in winamp, it played perfectly. The file you download (first song...apolitcal blues, should be a file named: "LF730410t01.shn". Make sure the file is really downloaded fully (should be 28.4MB). If that is not the problem, and you are downloading this exact file, then let me know and I'll try to help. Try to include specific error messages you are getting.

You may know this, but keep in mind that a shn or flac file is MUCH larger than even the highest bitrate MP3. For example, if this song had been a VBR MP3 file instead, it would have downloaded in a matter of seconds!

Obviously, be sure you have both winamp (5.24 ver i believe) and the shorten plugin. You have to install the plugin by executing the plugin file AFTER you've installed winamp, but without winamp running. Then the next time you open winamp, it should play shn files automatically.

Here you find free basic winamp:

Here you find shn plugin for ver 5.x

Here you find the flac installer that will make winamp work with flac, etc.

Excellent. The key to burning to CD (for regular CD play) is to convert shn or flac files to WAV files. The flac front end in prior post will decode flac files to wav. Try this for decoding shn to wav:
